Proverbs 3: 5-8
5 “
Trust in the Lord with all your heart
and lean not on your own understanding;
6 in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.
7 Do not be wise in your own eyes; fear the Lord and shun evil.
8 This will bring health to your body and nourishment to your bones.”

Notes from Wynn:

This summer has been been busy!  From mission trips to Switzerland and Ukraine to a trip to Minneapolis, Minnesota to train leaders at the Sojourn Church on the campus of the University of Minnesota!  I’m so proud to say we have a brand new Restoring Wholeness Support group starting the first week of October on the campus of UofM!  Michael Newland approached Brett and I in regards to what would it take to create and build a team to lead an RW support group on their campus this fall/autumn. Many emails, Skype meetings and phone calls later Brett and I were flying off to Minneapolis to train brand new leaders for RW!  Brett and I both agree this new team rocks!  Michael leading is a treasure beyond measure.  Their new support group starts Monday nights, October 5-November 30 (no meeting November 2) and
January 25-March 21 (no meeting March 14).  If you know anyone in Minneapolis please contact Michael – mike@sojourncampuschurch.net

Our hosts for the week and members of the Sojourn Church, Dan and Deb ZwillingOur hosts for the week Dan and Deb Zwilling absolutely had the gift of hospitality,
courteous, kind, giving and loving. We had such a great time with them.

Michael Newland, Leader of the new RW Support group at Sojourn Church and his girlfriend, Sarah

During the week we had a few team relationship building dinners…among the new leading team for RW in Minnesota were:

New RW Support Group - Sojourn Church, Minneanpolissome of the Minnisota team

Michael Newland, Nick & Lisa Strebendt, Kieth Lokkesmoe, Allen Hernbrode and  Timra Booth.

May we ask you to begin to pray for this team?  They have a great journey ahead them…and we know our Father is going to do something awesome through them!

Since our trip to Minnesota, we have been in process of restructuring our RW Support Group manual.  It is definitely going to be different in content since we are adding two or three important chapters.  After much payer and  collaboration with team members we believe this is going to be the strongest RW Support Group Manual ever.  Would appreciate your prayers as we launch this new edition this Fall/Autumn.

Brett & Holly's engagementThe Tucson branch of Restoring Wholeness are gearing up for this coming Fall/Autumn semester’s local RW support group.  Todd Wheeler and I will be leading the group as Brett has moved to Cottonwood in plans for his up coming marriage to Holly in late October.  Big wedding with lots of details to complete.  Please continue to pray for Brett and Holly.  This is the event of the year here in Arizona.  After the wedding, honeymoon and some one on one time together with Holly, Brett plans to begin to expand Restoring Wholeness via Chi Alpha in the Northern half of Arizona.  What exciting times we have ahead – and of course we’re needing lots and lots of your agreement in prayer for this expansion as well as healthy growth here in Tucson. Thank you all for being able to depend on you for those prayers and support!

God answers prayers!!!

thermometer temperature at 103On Saturday, 22 August I began a roller coaster ride starting with temps of over 103 and down to 100 and back again, then a trip to emergency on Sundaywhere the doctor said that the urinary track infection had gone to my kidney and they wanted to admit me into hospital, he said it wasn’t good.  Take the doctor’s caution, Judi and I decided to trust God and take option #2 which was to return people prayinghome, take the strong antibiotics he had prescribed, rest and drink lots of water and cranberry juice. On Tuesday my temps were still up around 103 and Judi called the hospital where they said it might be advantageous to return and be admitted into hospital. We prayed about it and reached out to all of you again and decided to wait one more day. On Wednesday there was a definite change to the better. In times alone while Judi was at work I could feel the prayers of all of you around the world who wrote and those who didn’t but prayed anyway. Waking up Thursday I felt 50% better. And Friday morning 90%!  Through it all Judi was my anchor.  She is a true treasure from our Father to me. God IS good all the time! Judi and I are so grateful for the encouragement and ministry that happened through you our friends and family…that’s why God gave us one another, to help in times of need, in a community of faith…we are family! God bless you richly! We can only give Him the glory.

9 But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me. 10 That is why, for Christ’s sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong.   2 Corinthians 12:9-10 (NIV)

Notes from Judi:

This summer I have been challenged in interesting ways. Wynn traveled to the Ukraine, Switzerland and a brief visit to Turkey. In August he made a trip to Minneapolis, Minnesota too. I’m not a social person in fact tend to be much of a loner. However there is a limit to being alone. While he was gone I had plans of multitudes of projects I thought I would get done. Daily life and taking on the additional duties in Wynn’s absence turned my plans of free time into overtime of daily duties and working. I grew tired and missed him very much. The one thing that would fill my heart is to know that he was bringing hope and a future to many by training leaders. These times help to equip believers to meet the challenges of a broken world and broken people.

So in a sense I felt my part of the ministry was to just keep things going at home to allow him to be free to minister. It was difficult to communicate. The time difference made it almost impossible since he was training during my day and wasn’t free to talk until I had long succumbed to sleep. He was a trooper and was able to take each day with new strength as the Lord gave him the ability to function while being sick while out of the country. I had told him that I was sure his teaching time would be great because God would anoint that time and from the reports that’s exactly what happened.

His training in Minnesota went very well and was encouraging but once again left me to manage our home and responsibilities on my own. The point I would like to make is I feel very much a part of everything that he is doing. The teaching, the training and the pouring out of the “Gift” God has given him. I’m there in spirit, covering with prayer and that is so important.

That’s where our supporters come in. All of you that pray and cover the ministry with your prayers are a part of these precious times. Your financial support allows him to travel and prepare materials for those teachings and trainings. Without you the burden is greater. Each one no matter how small or large of a part you play is making it possible. You may think your part it so small but it’s the power of one combined that makes it possible.  Wynn & Judi Nov 2013 bI sometimes felt that my part of doing his chores or even taking out the trash was just something I had to do in his absence. In reality it was pouring into his life to make his part possible.

Some of you remember and were a part of a prayer group that Lynn Velkov created for us way back in 1994.
We are in the process of reconstructing the Rock Group International Prayer Team and would love for you to join our team.
