Hope Is Closer Than We Think

By Brett Martin

As we approached Easter, I found myself reflecting deeply on the hope and love we find in God. It is a hope I need to revisit again and again—especially in seasons when life, circumstances, or the people around us feel discouraging or uncertain. If I’m honest, I think that is a longing we all share.

In Romans 5:8, we are reminded: “But God demonstrates His own love for us in this: while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” What an incredible, unconditional love. It is a love that meets us exactly where we are—not when we finally have it all together, but in the very middle of our greatest need.

Easter is the vibrant reminder that the story doesn’t end at the Cross. Jesus declared, “I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in Me will live, even though they die” (John 11:25, AMP). The resurrection is God’s ultimate declaration that sin, death, and despair do not have the final word. He does—and His word is Life.

My own journey with this Truth began over 34 years ago. As a student in college, I made the decision to surrender my heart and life to Christ, trusting Him as my Savior and Lord. Looking back over the decades, I can honestly say it was the best decision I have ever made. I have never once regretted walking this path.

As you experience the significance of this season, I want to encourage you to let Christ’s resurrection be the anchor for your peace. If you find yourself longing for a fresh start, know that you can turn to Him right now. You don’t need to have all the answers, and you don’t need to “fix” yourself first. You can simply come as you are, place your trust in Jesus, and receive the life and love He so freely offers.

That is the true hope of Easter. And it is for you.
